Moraga

The “mor” in Lamorinda, Moraga is known as “the town at the end of the cul-de-sac.”

There are no freeways, no BART stations and no industry in this bucolic town. However, a beautiful six-mile drive down either Moraga Way to Orinda or Moraga Road to Lafayette will get you there in short order. The town is surrounded by beautiful rolling hills that are vibrant green in the winter and golden in the summer.

St. Mary’s College has called Moraga home since 1928. It is a Catholic college formerly run by the Christian Brothers. There are still roughly two dozen Christian Brothers living and working at the school, and until 2013 the school presidents had always been Brothers.

Moraga has often been voted the safest city in California due to its low crime rate. Kids still ride their bikes to get around to after-school sports or the orthodontist. Competitive swimming is very popular and Moraga has produced several Olympians.

Moraga Commons Park is always a hub of activity with its bandshell hosting musical events all summer long. Love golf? Moraga Country Club has a great course!
